Bio-Amrut Pseudo (Pseudomonas fluorescens) is an aerobic,gram-negative, ubiquitous organism present in agricultural soils and welladapted to grow in the rhizosphere. This rhizobacterium possesses many traitsto act as a biocontrol agent and to promote the plant growth ability. It growsrapidly in vitro and can be mass- produced. It rapidly utilizes seed and rootexudates and colonizes and multiplies in the rhizosphere and spermosphereenvironments. In the plant rhizosphere, it produces a wide spectrum ofbioactive metabolites, that is, antibiotics, siderophores, volatiles, andgrowth-promoting substances; competes aggressively with other microorganisms;and adapts to environmental stresses. In addition, pseudomonas is responsiblefor the natural suppressiveness of some soil borne pathogens. It suppresses thegrowth of pathogenic microorganisms by various mechanisms.
